The Minister of Solidarity and Health prepares and implements the ’s policy in the areas of solidarity, cohesion, health and the organisation of the health system.
Subject to the powers of the Minister of Action and Public Accounts, she prepares and implements the Government’s policy in the area of social protection.

The Minister’s missions

It prepares and implements the Government’s policy on the family, children, the elderly and dependency. It is responsible for the social professions;

It is responsible for the organization of prevention and ; it draws up and implements, in liaison with the other competent ministers, the rules relating to the policy of protecting health against the various risks that may affect it; it is competent in matters relating to the medical and paramedical professions and the hospital civil service. It is competent in matters relating to the fight against drug addiction. It participates, together with the other competent ministers, in the Government’s action in research and the promotion of innovation in the field of health. It prepares and monitors the of the inter-ministerial committee on health;

It prepares and implements the rules relating to the schemes and management of social security bodies and supplementary bodies, in matters of old-age insurance, family benefits and sickness and maternity insurance and, jointly with the Minister of Labour, in matters of accidents at work and occupational diseases. It is responsible, jointly with the Minister of Action and Public Accounts, for the preparation of the Social Security Financing Act and for monitoring its implementation;

It participates, in conjunction with the Minister of Ecological and Solidarity Transition, in the preparation and implementation of the social and solidarity economy development policy;

It draws up and implements programmes to combat poverty. It participates, in conjunction with the ministers concerned, in the Government’s action in the areas of social minima, economic and social integration and social innovation. It prepares the work of the inter-ministerial committee to combat exclusion and the National Council for Policies to Combat Poverty and Social Exclusion.
